-First African American admitted entrance into Hanniman Medical School in Philadelphia, PA

-Graduated from Howard University Medical school as a Chiropodist (Podiatrist)

Collis Johnson Jr. DDS

Collis Johnson was appointed to the State Board of Dental Examiners in 1997 by Governor Romer and reappointed to a second term by Governor Owens in 2001. He completed eight years on the Dental Board as the only African American to serve.

He is a current Meharry Medical College board member and legacy donor in the Meharry Medical College hall of fame.
